The coloured letters indicate discordance between the clustering of mutS gene and the phylogenetic background of the strains. For a better overview, strains with identical mutS allele, ST, phylotype, and pathotype are not shown here. A full picture of the comparison of mutS and concatenated MLST allele sequences which contains all 177 strains is provided as additional file (Additional file 3).
