Colonization of Arcobacter butzleri alongside the murine intestinal tract following peroral infection. Gnotobiotic IL-10−/− mice were generated by antibiotic treatment and orally infected either with a A. butzleri strain CCUG 30485 (circles) or b strain C1 (squares). A. butzleri loads were determined in luminal samples of duodenum, ileum and colon at day 6 p.i. (filled symbols) and day 16 p.i. (open symbols) as colony forming units (CFU) per gram sample.
