In the Results section of this article [1], under the heading “Molecular confirmation and sequencing results”, the sentence “Unfortunately, due to lack of funding and reagents during the collection of samples, the molecular method was performed 12 months later in formalin-preserved stool samples, and it was not possible to apply this method to all positive samples. PCR for Cryptosporidium spp. Six of the 28 samples (21%) were positive for Cyclospora spp. by PCR (Fig. 4). (Fig. 5) was positive in 11 of the 15 samples (73%).” should have read “Unfortunately, due to lack of funding and reagents during the collection of samples, the molecular method was performed 12 months later in formalin-preserved stool samples, and it was not possible to apply this method to all positive samples. PCR for Cryptosporidium spp. (Fig. 4) was positive in six of 28 samples (21%), and PCR for Cyclospora spp. (Fig. 5) was positive in 11 of 15 samples (73%).”

In addition, the funding information in the Acknowledgment and Funding sections should read as “MINCIENCIAS under Grant Call 909 of 2021 supported the Doctoral tuitions of Jessica Triviño-Valencia.” instead of “MINCIENCIAS under Grant Call 22 of 2022 supported the Doctoral tuitions of Jessica Triviño-Valencia.”

The original article has been corrected.
